In preparation for the much-anticipated UPSTATE ART WEEKEND, we have prepared a short guide with all the necessary details you need to begin your weekend exploring exciting creative spaces in the Hudson Valley.
When?
Saturday, August 29th and Sunday the 30th.
Where?
UPSTATE ART WEEKEND is spread throughout celebrated creative spaces on both sides of the Hudson River, from Cold Spring in the south to Ghent in the north. This broad selection of locations allows visitors to see some of the most beautiful areas in the Hudson Valley and a significant range of local artistic diversity.
The map including each participating venue, produced by the team behind UPSTATE ART WEEKEND, is available here.
About the Weekend
For those missing community and public appreciation of our local artists, galleries, and art institutions during these challenging and isolating times, UPSTATE ART WEEKEND is an excellent opportunity to safely venture back out into our regional cultural landscape. STONELEAF RETREAT, headed by a long-time leader in the art industry, Helen Toomer, has launched this initiative for the first time with the intention of celebrating creative spaces in our own Hudson Valley.
If there’s anything these past few months have taught us is that community, collaboration, art, and the outdoors are essential to our well-being and UPSTATE ART WEEKEND is a combination of all of these.
Helen Toomer, Founder, STONELEAF RETREAT
The weekend is a mixture of events, group exhibitions, public artwork, and self-guided and guided tours in sculpture parks.
A few examples of what to expect:
The Hasbrouck House in Stone Ridge is hosting two outdoor cinema nights (part of their Sunset Flix series) featuring Moonlight and BlacKkKlansman.
Magazzino Italian Art in Cold Spring has two current exhibitions on display, Homemade, and Arte Povera.
The relative newcomer Starlite Motel is organizing an outdoor bonfire & a nighttime set by DJ The New York Fox.
